The Roku HD Player is a way for people to be able to watch movies or other programs streamed from the internet on their televisions in high definition.

The Roku HD Player comes with all the stuff a person needs to get going in just minutes. This includes all the cables, batteries and remote control. To use it someone just needs a high speed internet connection and they are good to go.

The Roku HD Player comes fitted with either Ethernet or WI-FI. Ethernet means a cable can be plugged in from a router, if the person does not have access to wireless Internet (WI-FI).

Generally most broadband connection will be sufficient for streaming movies with a 1.2 Mbps needs to stream instantly. Also the faster the connection the more the quality will be improved, with it peaking out at around 5 Mbps.

People can either use the standard red and white TV cables or an HDMI lead. The remote control system works like a normal DVD remote control, in that people can pause, fast forward, or rewind, etc.

New movies can be streamed directly from companies like Amazon or Netflix, with over 50,000 titles currently being available from download.

This little box rocks. I have killed of all but my local channels on cable. This may have been the best $99. I have spent in years. My sons and I use it everyday. At first I was concerned about content, but there are like 12000 things to choose from…We have watched season 1,2 and in the process of season 3 of Heroes. You have no idea how cool it is to see shows like this with no commercials. Tons of movies to choose from. I really like the fact that the company has more than delivered on what they promised. I bought the box to add to my Netflix and now I can get amazon video on demand as well, and it didn’t cost anything for the upgrade. How often has that happened…I am getting a ton more than I paid for. LOVE IT.

I purchased the Roku HD Player device through Amazon and it was delivered in less than a week. It’s a simple, basic device and only took a minute or two to set up. Instructions for activating the Netflix account are on-screen and not complicated. Everything worked as planned and I was streaming Netflix programs in a very short time. I have numerous movies and TV shows in the Instant Netflix queue ready to go.

I am running wireless DSL with S-type connectors to the TV (RCA connectors worked just as well). The picture is solid, no glitches. My only complaint is that the picture quality is not much better than VHS, definitely not DVD quality with this setup. That being said, overall I’m very pleased with the purchase.

The Roku is a truly awesome little black box. Rarely, do I write a review and even more rarely do I buy a second item of something I already own. The Roku is so impressive that I felt compelled to do both.

If you are on the fence about buying…just do it!!! You will not regret it.
